The 2014-15 athletic year for Tuskegee University ended as another successful campaign for all sports, claiming two conference titles and participating in the postseason in football and softball. The sports information office at Tuskegee, along with the help of fans and alumni from the university, have put together a list of the top moments from the past year. Over the next three weeks, the highlights from the year will be posted on GoldenTigerSports.com, with the top moment being revealed on July 31.
Top-10 Tuskegee Highlights from 2014-15
#10 :: Women's Basketball defeats MilesThe Tigerettes were searching for their second victory of the season as they traveled to Fairfield to take on Miles College, and despite 26 points from Porshia Blue, they were able to come out with a 62-55 road victory over Miles.
Trailing 28-25 at halftime, Tuskegee wasted little time in taking the lead in the second half. With 19:02 remaining in the game,
Rachel Brownlee connected on a lay-up off a turnover to give the Tigerettes a 29-28 advantage, and they extended that lead to 36-30 to close out an 11-2 run to open the second half. The run took place over the first 3:54 of the final half.
Miles was able to close the gap to four at 36-32 with 15:08 remaining; however, the Tuskegee went on another mini-run outscoring Miles 11-5 to take the biggest lead of the game with 8:48 to play (47-37).
The lead stayed at four most of the way in the second half, until Miles closed to within a bucket at 55-53 with 3:15 to play. However, Tuskegee answered with a basket of their own to push the lead back to four at 57-53, before scoring five of the final seven points for the conference victory.
Demetries McNealey paced three Tigerettes in double figures with 14 points, while
Chelsea Azore added 11 and
Jacqueline Martin 10 in the victory. Brownlee narrowly missed a double-double as she recorded nine points and 13 rebounds in the win.
