Golden Tigers Sweep Double-Header Season Opener

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Today marked the official beginning of the Tuskegee Golden Tigers 2015 baseball season. The team collectively overpowered the Concordia College-Selma Hornets, 15-3 in game one and a 9-0 shutout in game two.
 
The Golden Tigers scored four runs in the bottom of the first innings and held the Hornets scoreless until the third. However, Tuskegee scored two runs in the second, three in the third and exploded with six runs in the six to end scoring for game one.

John Bryant was the starting pitcher on record for the Golden Tigers, pitched two innings. Bryant faced six batters, allowed one hit, two strikeouts and hit one batter.  Tuskegee completed the game with 26 at bats, 15 runs, 11 hits, 13 RBIs, three doubles, one triple, eight walks, six stolen bases, 21 putouts and two errors.

In game two, the Golden Tigers didn't score as many runs, however they did record their first shutout of the season. Tuskegee scored two in the first, one in the second and one in the sixth, however it was the fourth that the Golden Tigers ' demolition crew went to work scoring five runs.
 
Travais Hylton and Alex Henderson both scored two runs, while Gemini Jackson recorded three RBIs.  Cameron Summers pitched two innings, tallying two walks, three strikeouts while facing seven batters; he allowed two hits. As a team Tuskegee recorded nine runs, six hits, seven RBIs, four doubles, 10 walks, two hit-by-pitches, eight strikeouts and 21 putouts.

The Golden Tigers will travel to Miami, Florida, this weekend to take on Barry University in a three game series. The double header is scheduled for February 7th at 1 and 4 PM EST, with the rubber match scheduled for noon EST on the 8th.
