HOOPS PREVIEW: Tigerettes travel north to face Alabama A&M Wednesday

The game will be the second consecutive game against an NCAA Division I member

TUSKEGEE, Ala. | For the second consecutive game, the Tuskegee University women's basketball program will hit the road to face an NCAA Division I member school as they take on Alabama A&M University on Wednesday night.
 
Tip is set for 7:00 pm at T.M. Elmore Gymnasium in Huntsville.
 
Tuskegee (1-7) fell to Jacksonville State 74-47 in their last contest against a Division I school on Sunday, and are looking to end a six-game losing streak while playing their seventh road game of the season. Meanwhile, Alabama A&M (0-6) has not played since losing 81-45 to Marshall back on December 5.
 
The game will mark the final non-conference game on the schedule for the Tigerettes, as they will get back into conference play beginning January 2 with three more road games before returning home.
 
Junior guard Rachel Brownlee continues to lead the Tigerettes in scoring [15.4 ppg] and rebounds [6.6 rpg] this season, including scoring in double figures in seven of the eight contests in 2015. The junior scored 15 points against Jacksonville State on Sunday, with 12 of those coming in the second half – including 10 in the fourth quarter.
 
Senior Demetries McNealey is averaging 9.4 points per game so far this season, including scoring in double figures three times. The senior guard came into the season averaging just over eight points per game, and set a new career-high with 21 against Georgia College [November 30].
 
A pair of freshmen are making their mark for the Tigerettes on the boards through eight games this season. Tyler Everett is the second-leading rebounder on the team this season, averaging 5.1 rebounds per game that includes a career-high 11 against Valdosta State and another 10 against Spring Hill. Fellow post player, Uche Ibebunjo came off the bench Sunday to score eight points and a grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds in the loss to Jacksonville State.
 
Alabama A&M is led by Janie Myles in scoring [10.8 ppg] and rebounding [6.8 rpg].
 
The Bulldogs come into the game averaging 44.3 points per game, while giving up 75.7 per contest; while Tuskegee comes in averaging 49.9 points per game and giving up 66.3 per contest.
