TUSKEGEE, Ala. | The Tuskegee University women's basketball team returns to action Sunday afternoon for their first of two road games against NCAA Division I opponents, traveling to face Jacksonville State at 1 pm inside Pete Mathews Coliseum.
Tuskegee (1-6) and Jacksonville State (2-6) will meet for the third time in school history, with Tuskegee holding a pair of victories over the Division I Gamecocks. The game will be part of a doubleheader, preceding the Jacksonville State men taking on Alabama State. The game will be part of Christmas with the Gamecocks at Pete Mathews Coliseum.
The Tigerettes enter the game after taking eight days off due to final exams on the campus, and will be playing the first of two road games in four days - ended the brief trip against Alabama A&M on Wednesday night.
Tuskegee is led by junior guard
Rachel Brownlee, a preseason All-SIAC selection, in scoring and rebounding. The junior guard is averaging 15.4 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game. She has scored in double figures in six of the seven games this season, including matching her career-high of 26 against Columbus State on December 4. She has led the team in scoring in five games this season and has recorded five or more rebounds six different times.
Senior guard
Demetries McNealey is second on the team in scoring, averaging 8.5 points per game through seven games this season. She has scored in double figures three times, including a career-high 21 points against Georgia College on November 30.
Freshman
Tyler Everett continues to adjust to the collegiate game, averaging 4.4 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game. She has grabbed seven or more rebounds three times this season, including a career-high 11 against Valdosta State in her first collegiate game. She also grabbed 10 rebounds against Spring Hill in her first SIAC game, grabbing six offensive rebounds in both games.
The Tigerettes will get freshman guard
Ashley Johnson back after missing the last two games, adding depth to the roster for the next two road games. The freshman is averaging 3.6 points per game in 29.8 minutes per game.
