TUSKEGEE, Ala. | After spending the first two weeks of the season on the road, the Tuskegee University women's basketball team will play their first game inside Chappie James Arena on Monday night when they host Georgia College.
Tip is scheduled for 5:30 pm (cst) for the non-conference match-up.
Tuskegee (1-3) played their first four games on the road, all against Gulf South Conference opponents. The Tigerettes picked up their lone win against West Georgia on November 15, and have been off for 10 days following their last game against Alabama Huntsville on November 20.
The Tigerettes are led by
Rachel Brownlee, a preseason All-SIAC selection, in scoring and rebounding. The junior is averaging 13.5 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game. She is also averaging 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Brownlee has scored in double figures in three of four games this season, including a season-high 20 against Alabama Huntsville.
Meanwhile,
Chelsea Azore is also averaging double figures at 13.0 points per game. She has scored in double figures in three of four games this season, including a season-high 18 against West Georgia.
Freshman
Tyler Everett is second on the team in rebounding at 6.3 rebounds per game, while junior
Jesslyn Mahone leads the team in assists at 3.3 assists per game.
Tuskegee will enter Monday night's game averaging 53.5 points and 39.0 rebounds per game.
Georgia College (5-1) enters the night winners of five consecutive games, including a pair of wins over SIAC teams – Fort Valley State and Clark Atlanta.
The Bobcats are led by Kadesha Gibbs at 16.3 points and 12.0 rebounds per game, while Mckenna Rushton is averaging 10.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
Tonight's game will mark the first of three this week for Tuskegee, as they will hit the road to face Spring Hill later this week in their conference opener before returning home to face Columbus State on Saturday afternoon.
