Tigerettes fall on the road Friday night

Tuskegee falls to 1-3 to open the season with all four games on the road

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Rachel Brownlee scored a season-high 20 points Friday night but it wasn't enough as Tuskegee University could not overcome an early deficit, falling to the Lady Chargers of Alabama-Huntsville 58-46 at Spragins Hall.
 
Brownlee finished the night 6-of-22 from the floor and 8-of-15 from the free throw line. She also grabbed eight rebounds in the loss for Tuskegee (1-3), who dropped their second consecutive game on the road.
 
Tyler Everett scored a career-high eight points, while leading scorer Chelsea Azore was held nine points below her average of 15.3 points per game.
 
Jesslyn Mahone added a career-high seven assists for the Tigerettes.
 
The Tigerettes shot 30.4 (17-of-56) percent from the floor, and 52.2 (12-of-23) percent from the free throw line. For the first time this season, they were held without a three-pointer as they went 0-for-7.
 
A pair of seniors led the way for UAH on the night as Dina Saunders scored 15 on the strength of three 3-pointers, and Halle Jarnagin recorded the team's first double-double of the season as she scored 14 while grabbing 12 rebounds with five coming on the offensive glass.

Chandler Elder dished out a team-best four assists, aiding the team's performance that recorded a stunning 16 assists on 17 baskets.
 
After building up a 20-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter, the Chargers went into the locker room leading 27-22 after holding the Golden Tigers to a shooting mark of just 28.6 percent in the opening half.
 
The Chargers then built up as much as a 10-point lead in the third and fourth quarters, but Tuskegee closed the gap to just four at 48-44 with 3:31 remaining in the contest.
 
A pair of free throws by Saunders followed by a key triple from Loren Foster pushed the lead out to nine by the two-minute mark.
 
Tuskegee is off until November 30 when they play their first home game of the season, hosting Georgia College and State University at Chappie James Arena. The game is scheduled to tip off at 5:30 pm.
