TUSKEGEE, Ala. (January 8, 2015) The Tuskegee Tigerettes suffered a bruising loss to the Paine Lady Lions in their season opener, yet Tuskegee entered tonight's contest poised and seeking retribution.
The opening points of the game came at the hands of Kiandra Guilford (Paine) at the free-throw line followed by a jumper by
Halle Bentley. The half continued to be a back and forth effort until TU walked away with the lead with 6:35 remaining in the half.
In the first half,
Rachel Brownlee led Tuskegee with eight points, four rebounds, one steal and one assist, while Bentley and
Staceyanna Murrell each added six points and three rebounds.
Jemetria Fletcher paced Paine with six points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal.
In the second half, Tuskegee continued to build on their first half momentum. Leading by more than 20 points on several occasions, the Tigerettes picked up their first conference win, defeating the Lady Lions, 72-59.
Jacqueline Martin led Tuskegee with 14 points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal. Brownlee finished with 13 points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist. Murrell added 11 points and four rebounds.
Chelsea Azore and Demtries McNealey led the team with eight rebounds each.
For Paine, Janisha Wilkerson put up 17 points, three assists, one block and one assist, while Aalyiha Wright knocked down 16 points, six rebounds and two steals.
