BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (March 5, 2014) – The Tuskegee Tigerettes only netted 9-of-32 shots from the floor in the first half, but it was enough to keep the game close in the SIAC Basketball Tournament against the Lady Wildcats of Fort Valley State.
Alannah Vincent sinked a 3-pointer at the buzzer, sending a jubilant TU team to the dressing room trailing 30-28.
The Tigerettes outscored the Lady Wildcats 43-31 in the second half, walking away with a 71-61 victory.
Four Tigerettes scored in double figures, led by
Kajuanna Rivers with 16 points and
Chelsea Azore and
Marie McAbee with 12 apiece. Vincent added 11 points and Azore grabbed 11 rebounds to post a double-double.
Briana Shepherd led Fort Valley State with 15 points and D'Ambria Thomas contributed 13 points.
Tuskegee avenged a humiliating loss to Fort Valley State in the SIAC Tournament last year in Atlanta, Ga.
The Tuskegee Tigerettes improved to 17-10 and Fort Valley State dropped to 13-15.
The Tigerettes will face the winner of tonight's game, Paine vs. Benedict, on Friday, March 7 at 5:30 p.m.
