TUSKEGEE, Ala. (February 20, 2014) – After returning home from a two-game road trip to Birmingham, Ala., and Memphis, Tenn., the Tuskegee University Tigerette (15-8, 11-3 SIAC) basketball team edged the Lady Thorobrettes of Kentucky State, 54-51 at the James Center Arena on Thursday night.
Marie McAbee led the SIAC West Division Champion with 16 points and eight rebounds.  Kajuanna Rivers added 13 points and Chelsea Azore 10.  Alannah Vincent netted 9 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Brianna Warner recorded a double-double for the Thorobrettes (11-14, 6-9 SIAC), nailing 13 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.

During the two-game road swing last week, the Tigerettes defeated Miles 59-52 and LeMoyne-Owen 71-65.  Last night's win gives the Tigerettes a three-game winning streak.

The SIAC Basketball Tournament will be staged at the Bill Harris Arena at the CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala., Monday, March 3-Saturday, March 8.  The Tigerettes will be seeded #1 in the SIAC West.

The Tigerettes will face the Lady Dragons of Lane College on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. CST and the Paine College Lady Lions on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., James Center Arena. 

The game against the Lady Lions will be Senior Night for the Tigerettes.
