Tigerettes defeat Lady Bears in SIAC West matchup

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (February 10, 2010) – The SIAC West leading Tuskegee University Tigerettes (12-8, 8-3 SIAC) bounced back last night after losing in their last hardwood outing.  Coach Tarsha Askew's squad outlasted the Lady Bears of Miles College 71-60 in a SIAC conference contest at the James Center Arena.
 
Marie McAbee scorched the nets for 27 points, followed by Alannah Vinson's double-double, 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Tigerettes.  Kajuanna Rivers added 15 points and four assists.
 
Javonne Brown paced the Lady Bears with 23 points.  Enria Samuels contributed 12 points and Tiffany Stephens added 11.
 
The Lady Bears led at halftime 33-27, but the Tigerettes outscored the Lady Bears 44-27 in the second half.  The Tigerettes took the lead at 14:17 in the second half and never trailed again in the game.
 
The Tigerettes played without freshman starter Rachel Brownlee.
 
The two teams will meet again on Saturday at the Crossplex in Fairfield, Ala., at 1:00 p.m.
