Tuskegee- The Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University captivated their home fan base with a thrilling 77-72 victory over the Falcons of the University of Montevallo.
Montevallo struck first on an in the paint layup by Ryan May (18:27) to start the upbeat contest between two strong teams. Undeterred and determined Vladimir Tilme tied the game with a layup (in the paint) on a pass from
Kevin May.
Graham Olatunji's dunk (
David Alexander) took the Golden Tigers up by two with 17:20 remaining in the half. However, the score would be tied again at the 17:01 mark. The upper hand changed many time over the half, yet Tuskegee went into the locker room with a one-point (28-27) lead.
May paced the Golden Tigers' first half with five points, two rebounds and one steal. Three TU players completed the half with four points, Tilme, Olatunji, and Alexander. The team pulled down eight rebounds and five steals in the first 20 minutes on the contest.
The second half's started off rocky for both teams with turnovers and missed opportunities, but Tuskegee's
Camden Foster (Tilme) dropped a three-pointers to extend the Golden Tiger lead. Olatunji pulled down a defensive rebound on a Falcon missed basket leading to a fast break layup by Alexander (May). The largest lead of the game was 16-points in favor of TU.
Alexander completed the contest with 18-points, three steals, two assists and two blocks; May knocked down 14-points, four assists and three steals. Olatunji finished with 12 points, six rebounds and three steals.
The Golden Tigers will be in action again when they travel to Montevallo, Alabama, to take on the University of Montevallo on their court on December 3
rd. Tipoff is set for 7 pm.
