For the second time this week, the Tuskegee Tigerettes fought off a sluggish first half with a high-scoring second half rally in Thursday night's game against the Lady Rams of Mobile.  This resulted in consecutive victories for the first time in the 2013-14 season, as TU shot 48.6 percent from the field in the second half to earn a hard-fought 83-73 victory.

Alannah Vincent had the first double-double for Tuskegee this season, as she finished with 13 points and ten rebounds.  She was one of four TU players to score in double figures, as Marie McAbee had a team-high 19 points.  Kajuanna Rivers and Rachel Brownlee also managed to chip in 16 and ten points, respectively.  This quartet was able to counter an effort from Deonica McCormick, who finished with a game-high of 23 points, but only had one teammate that managed to join her in double-figure scoring.

The Lady Rams (4-2 overall) led early, until Tuskegee (2-4 overall) was able to get their first lead of the night on a jumper by McAbee with just under 14 minutes left until halftime.  Tarsha Askew's squad led by as many as four points, but Mobile was able to get the lead by after Jakela Johnson dropped in a layup with 6:23 left in the opening half.  Tuskegee shot under 40 percent for the fourth consecutive game, going 12-of-33 from the field in the game's first 20 minutes.

The Tigerettes countered that first half effort by shooting over 45 percent in the second half for the second consecutive game.  The Lady Rams extended their lead to as much as 11, when McCormick nailed a jumper in the first two minutes of the second half to wind down a 9-1 scoring run.  But, Tuskegee would retake the lead with an 11-0 run of their own, which was capped off by a pair of free throws from Rivers with 11:20 left in regulation.  The home team would extend the lead to as many as 14 points twice late in the game before claiming the victory.

Tuskegee will attempt to go a perfect 3-0 at home this week, as they play the Lady Warhawks of Auburn-Montgomery (6-3 overall) in an early game on Saturday.  Representatives from AUM were in attendance last night to scout out the Tigerettes and get an advantage for tomorrow's game, as they are looking for their first win on the road since a 54-49 victory over Bellhaven on Nov. 22.  Auburn's metro campus won during their last game out, which was a 85-59 victory over Selma University on Tuesday.

In order to avoid conflict with the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, Tuskegee University has rescheduled Saturday's game to Noon, meaning that the contest will be played hours earlier from the original 3:00 p.m. start.  The action will once again emanate from the Daniel 'Chappie' James Center.
