Nadia Thorman-McKey is in her first year as the graduate assistant coach for the Tuskegee University women’s basketball team. A former standout player at both the collegiate and professional levels, Thorman-McKey brings a wealth of experience to her new role.

After a standout season in 2022-23 as a player with Tuskegee, Nadia Thorman-McKey has taken the next step in her basketball career by signing a professional contract with ZKK RMU Banovici in Bosnia. ZKK RMU Banovici competes in Bosnia's Division I league, the highest level of women’s basketball in the country.

In her lone season at Tuskegee, Thorman-McKey made an immediate impact as a key player for the Golden Tigers. Starting all 30 games, she played 770 minutes and averaged 25.7 minutes per game. Her field-goal shooting improved to 42.7 percent, finishing the season with 123 field goals on 288 attempts. Her rebounding remained strong with an average of 5.6 boards per game, totaling 169 rebounds.

Offensively, she averaged 11.5 points per game and contributed 55 steals, 29 assists, and eight blocks. Nadia’s leadership on both ends of the court helped Tuskegee throughout the season, helping the Golden Tigers go undefeated in regular season conference play along with winning the 2023 SIAC Tournament Championship and earning a bid to the NCAA South Regional Tournament.

Thorman-McKey spent 2020-21 with a strong first season at Chicago State University. She played in 13 games, starting in 10, and averaged 33.5 minutes per game, showing her capacity for extended court time. Over the season, she recorded 70 field goals on 189 attempts, shooting at a rate of 37 percent.

The forward also demonstrated her versatility with seven three-pointers made out of 17 attempts, reflecting a solid shooting percentage of 41.2 percent from beyond the arc. Her contributions also included an average of 4.5 rebounds per game, 15 assists, four blocks, and 13 steals. Thorman-McKey finished her first season at CSU with an impressive 179 points and an average of 13.8 points per game, leading the team.

Thorman-Mckey had a standout sophomore season at State Fair Community College, where she started 28 of the 29 games she appeared in. She led the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging an impressive 18.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.

The forward also demonstrated versatility and strong all-around play, contributing 58 assists, 50 steals, and 9 blocks over the course of the season. Her dynamic performances helped solidify her role as one of the top players on the team, and she proved to be a key player both offensively and defensively. Her ability to dominate in multiple facets of the game made her a standout in the NJCAA ranks.

As a freshman at Roosevelt University, the forward quickly became a key contributor, starting 28 of the 29 games in which she played. She ranked third on the team in scoring, averaging 9.2 points per game, and was second in rebounding with 5.9 rebounds per game.

Her defensive prowess was evident as well, as she tallied 61 steals, contributing to her team’s defensive efforts. Thorman-McKey also added 34 assists and 13 blocks during her freshman season, showcasing her all-around skills. Her strong performances in her first collegiate season helped lay the foundation for her future success as she continued to develop into a force on both ends of the court.
