Andonte Gennie

Gennie brings extensive coaching experience, proven success developing talent, and an accomplished playing career to a Tuskegee program looking to continue its competitive rise in the SIAC. 

Before joining Tuskegee, Gennie served as the Associate Head Coach at Florida A&M University during the 2024-25 season, where he helped guide the Rattlers to their first-ever SWAC Tournament appearance.  

During Gennie’s stint, the Rattlers improved their offensive production and defensive efficiency, averaging 65.0 points per game and finishing with a +7.3 rebounding margin, ranking among the top units in the SWAC. 

Gennie played a pivotal role in developing standout athletes, including SWAC Player of the Year Ahriahna Grizzle, who averaged 18.4 points per game and earned All-SWAC First Team honors. His ability to elevate player performance and help programs reach milestone achievements underscores his value to Tuskegee’s staff. 

Before his time at FAMU, Gennie built a strong coaching résumé at the high school level. He led Crossroad Academy Charter School to its first-ever state tournament appearance in 2019 and guided Tallahassee Godby High School, his alma mater, to its first district championship since 2015. He has also spent six summers coaching AAU girls’ basketball, sharpening his expertise in player development and team strategy. 

A former standout at Georgia Southern University, Gennie was a two-time All-Southern Conference honoree and finished his collegiate career with 1,288 points. Following college, he enjoyed a six-year professional career overseas in Germany, Kosovo, Hungary, and Romania, earning four All-Star selections. He later completed his master’s degree in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University in 2017.
