2018 (Junior): In 2018,
Deramus was named the SIAC's Overall Player of the Year (MVP) and is the first Golden Tiger to receive the award since linebacker Jewel Ratliff
accomplished that feat in
2015. Despite serving in a backup role for starting quarterback
Jamarcus Ezell, Deramus still had TU in contention to win the SIAC West Division had they won their last game of the season. He completed 107 of his 205 passing attempts for 1,770 yards and 18 touchdowns in only eight starts. The junior earned Player of the Week Honors twice, threw multiple touchdowns in six games and passed for a career high 300 yards and a career-high four touchdowns in week nine against Central State. The Gadsden, Ala. native had his most efficient game against Kentucky State when completed 12-of-18 passes for 235 yards and four scores. Deramus ended his 2018 campaign ranked first in the SIAC in passing touchdowns and efficiency.
2017 (Sophomore): Played in five games and started in two last season as the team's primary backup quarterback...Started and won first ever game as a starter against Clark Atlanta.... completed 6-of-12 passes for 124 yards and one touchdown...passed for 60 yards against Findlay....was a perfect 2-for-2 against DIV FCS Jackson State for 70 yards.
2016 (Freshman): Played in three games...completed 1-of-2 passes for 15 yards.
High School: Played four years for coach Matt Scott at Gadsden City High School… Named team captain during senior season… Named First Team All-Region during sophomore, junior and senior seasons… Rushed for 1,031 yards and passed for 4,244 yards during prep career… Scored 47 touchdowns during career, including 26 during senior season… Passed for 2,010 yards and rushed for 434 more during senior season… Named to Gadsden Time Dirty Dozen during junior and senior seasons… Holds school records with 28 consecutive starts, passing touchdowns (career and season) and passing yards (career and season)… Helped lead team to region championship during junior season… Also lettered in baseball and basketball during prep career.
Personal: Son of Sonya and Andre’ DeRamus of Gadsden (Ala.)… Has two siblings, Raven and Kamaria… Father played collegiately at Grambling State University and has an uncle who played at Jacksonville State University… Plans to major in Business Finance.
