A goal by Jo'Metrius Davis in the 83rd minute was the decider in Tuskegee's 2-1 win over Point Thursday night in the Golden Tigers' first official home soccer match at Cleve L. Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium.
The winner capped a strong effort for Tuskegee (2-0-0), which spent much of the night on the attack, taking 16 total shots with six of them being on goal. Dahman Zuchinni entered as a sub in the 23rd minute and his first shot on goal was a big one, finding the back of the net to give the Golden Tigers a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute.
Tuskegee went into half time with that lead but lost in when Thor Papera pushed one past
Samuel Glasgow to even the score. It was one of only two shots on goal by the Skyhawks, who were corralled by the Golden Tigers' defensive effort much of the night.
The Golden Tigers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to face Alabama Huntsville beginning at 3:30 p.m.
