Tuskegee was not able to generate much offensively but the defense was able to withstand a constant attack from Auburn Montgomery, surviving 24 shots - including 10 on goal - in forging a 0-0 tie Wednesday evening at Cleve L. Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium.
The Golden Tigers (0-1-1) were under siege early as the Warhawks (1-0-2) had three corner kicks and a shot on goal within the first three minutes. But Tuskegee was able to withstand the early barrage and ultimately made a change in goal to
Mackenzie Allen, who turned in a brilliant performance with nine saves.
AUM had 12 shots in each half while Tuskegee managed just two - from
Clarke Terrell in the 75th minute and
Syrai Bryant in the 86th minute - and neither was on goal. Lily Hillegas nearly got the Warhawks on the board in the 63rd minute but her shot hit the crossbar. Allen's final save came in the 81st minute and the Golden Tigers were able to earn the tie at full time.
Tuskegee is back in action on Tuesday when it travels to Mobile, Ala. to face Spring Hill at 1 p.m.
