Syrai Bryant's team-leading fifth goal was part of a spirited second half attack but it was not enough to extend the Golden Tigers' win streak as they fell 2-1 to the United States Sports University Tuesday afternoon at Cleve L. Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium.
Goalkeeper
Mackenzie Allen had three saves early but could not stop a shot by Katherine Soias at 27:45 to give the Eagles the lead. The Golden Tigers had five shots on goal in the opening half, attempting early to beat USSU keeper Addison Martin low but could not get one by her as they trailed 1-0 at half time.
The second half got off to an inauspicious start when Ambria Snell helped the Eagles find the back of the net again 63 seconds into the period for a two-goal advantage. Tuskegee, though, quickly answered when Bryant scored in the 51st minute to halve the deficit. From there, the Golden Tigers stayed on the attack and took three more shots, with
Mariah Coles getting the best opportunity in the 57th minute. But her shot upstairs was saved and USSU (3-0-0) was able to keep its lead until full time.
Tuskegee is back in action on Sunday as it travels to North Carolina to take on Mars Hill beginning at noon.
