Tuskegee Falls to Morehouse in SIAC Championship Game

MORROW, Ga. — Tuskegee men's basketball closed its postseason run Saturday night with a 66-56 loss to Morehouse in the SIAC Championship game at the Clayton County Convocation Center.
 
The Golden Tigers battled throughout the contest and kept the game within reach in the second half, but a late surge from the Maroon Tigers proved to be the difference.
Tuskegee finished the season 22-7 overall and 19-5 in SIAC play.
 
Morehouse established an early rhythm offensively, shooting 50 percent from the field in the first half, while Tuskegee worked to keep pace.
 
Tuskegee stayed competitive thanks to interior play from Anthony Wright and Kusamae Draper, while RJ Walker provided perimeter scoring.
 
The Golden Tigers held Morehouse close for much of the opening period, but the Maroon Tigers closed the half on a strong run behind scoring from Joshua Lawson and Sincere Moore. Morehouse entered the break with a 33-24 lead.
 
Tuskegee showed resilience early in the second half, cutting into the deficit behind baskets from Walker and Wright, while Draper continued to attack the glass.
 
However, Morehouse answered each push and maintained control of the tempo. Lawson continued his strong performance, converting key baskets down the stretch to help the Maroon Tigers maintain separation.
 
Tuskegee trimmed the margin to single digits late, but Morehouse closed the game at the free-throw line to secure the 66-56 victory.
 
Draper led Tuskegee with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Walker and Wright each added 11 points. Wright also recorded a team-high 12 rebounds to post a double-digit rebound performance.
 
Khalil Genwright chipped in seven points, and Noah Goines provided six points off the bench.
 
Tuskegee finished the night shooting 35.8 percent from the field and 23.8 percent from three-point range, while holding a 35-32 rebounding advantage.
 
Morehouse was led by Joshua Lawson, who scored a game-high 17 points, while Sincere Moore added 11 points and JerrMone Hill contributed 10.
 
The Maroon Tigers shot 48 percent from the field and knocked down 10 three-pointers, which proved to be a key factor in the championship victory.
 
Morehouse also received 31 points from its bench, providing valuable scoring depth.
