Golden Tigers Close Regular Season with 75-55 Win Over Edward Waters

TUSKEGEE, Ala. — The Tuskegee men's basketball team closed out the regular season in dominant fashion Saturday afternoon, defeating Edward Waters University, 75-55, inside the James Center Arena.
 
With the win, the Golden Tigers improved to 20-6 overall and 19-5 in SIAC play, building momentum heading into the conference tournament.
 
Tuskegee set the tone early with defensive pressure and efficient scoring, jumping out to a 30-25 halftime lead. The Golden Tigers tightened their grip in the second half, erupting for 45 points over the final 20 minutes while holding Edward Waters to just 30, turning a competitive first half into a decisive 20-point victory.
 
Khalil Genwright led Tuskegee with 20 points, attacking the paint and converting 11-of-12 free throws. He added three rebounds and an assist in 34 minutes of action. Kusamae Draper provided a strong all-around performance with 14 points, eight rebounds, and three assists, shooting 4-of-6 from three-point range to stretch the defense.
 
Anthony Wright added 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds to secure a double-double effort, while RJ Walker chipped in nine points and four rebounds.
 
Tuskegee shot 40.7 percent from the field and knocked down 23-of-33 free throws, including an impressive 18-of-22 from the line in the second half. The Golden Tigers controlled the glass with 46 total rebounds and capitalized on 15 points off turnovers. Their bench also contributed 20 points in the win.
 
Edward Waters was led by Jayvon Johnson, who scored 17 points and grabbed four rebounds. Jarrell Nelson added 10 points, while Noah Huggaard contributed seven points and five rebounds.
 
The Tigers from Jacksonville shot 38.3 percent from the field and hit four three-pointers but struggled to match Tuskegee's second-half offensive surge. Edward Waters totaled 27 rebounds and committed seven turnovers.
 
Tuskegee's defense limited Edward Waters to just 18 second-half field goals and controlled the tempo down the stretch, steadily building the lead into double digits midway through the second half before closing strong at the free throw line.
 
With the regular season now complete, the Golden Tigers turn their attention to postseason play as they prepare for the upcoming SIAC Tournament.
