TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Tuskegee football is set to make history on Saturday, September 6, when the Golden Tigers host Central State in the first-ever night game at Cleve L. Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT and the game will air live on HBCU GO.
The matchup comes as part of a landmark moment for Tuskegee Athletics following the installation of permanent stadium lighting, made possible through a partnership with Alabama Power.
The enhancements allow Tuskegee to host night games for the first time in school history while providing year-round benefits for both athletics and campus life.

The Golden Tigers enter the home opener riding momentum from their thrilling 20-17 victory over Winston-Salem State in the 2025 Red Tails Classic. Quarterback
Raequan Beal led the offense with 154 passing yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning six-yard strike to Rashad Wilson in the third quarter. Beal earned Red Tails Classic MVP honors for his performance, marking his fifth career multi-touchdown passing game.
Wide receiver
Preston Parker added 35 receiving yards and an 18-yard touchdown, while kicker
Lorcan Ryans sealed the win with a 29-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter. Defensively,
Devon Irving Jr. anchored the unit with nine tackles as the Golden Tigers limited WSSU to just 123 rushing yards and 1-for-10 on third-down conversions.
ABOUT CENTRAL STATE (0-1, 0-1 SIAC)
Central State enters the contest looking to rebound after falling to Kentucky State in its season opener. The Marauders generated 278 yards of total offense but struggled to finish drives, managing just 14 points in the 28-14 loss.
Quarterback Jaden Taylor passed for 186 yards and a touchdown, while running back Chris Jackson paced the ground attack with 74 rushing yards. On defense, linebacker Malik Holmes led the way with 10 total tackles, while defensive back Aaron Grant added an interception to keep the Marauders in striking distance.
Tuskegee and Central State will meet for the 12th time in program history, with the Golden Tigers holding a 10-1 series lead. Tuskegee has won five straight matchups, including a 27-21 victory in the 2023 home opener. The two programs share a rich rivalry dating back to 2013, featuring competitive battles and memorable finishes.
This weekend marks a milestone for Tuskegee football as the program hosts its first-ever home night game. The stadium lighting upgrades, part of a broader facilities enhancement plan, also benefit Tuskegee's baseball, softball, and tennis programs.
Tuskegee looks to move to 2-0 for the first time since 2023 while continuing its pursuit of a 32nd SIAC Championship. With history on the line and a primetime stage, the Golden Tigers are ready to make the most of this milestone moment.
