FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. – Tuskegee guard Hilani Cantone has been named HBCU National Player of the Week by BOXTOROW following an outstanding performance last week. Cantone, a graduate student from Apopka, Fla., played a pivotal role in leading the Golden Tigers to a 2-0 record, delivering impressive numbers on both ends of the floor.
Over the two-game stretch, Cantone averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.5 steals while shooting 48 percent (13-of-27) from the field and an impressive 86 percent (6-of-7) from three-point range. Her standout performance came in Tuskegee's victory over Albany State on March 1, where she scored 26 points on 9-of-18 shooting, grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds, and dished out four assists.
Cantone and the Golden Tigers now turn their focus to the SIAC Quarterfinals, where they will take on Spring Hill on Thursday, March 6, at 2:00 p.m. ET inside Forbes Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. With a semifinal spot on the line, Cantone will look to continue her strong play and lead Tuskegee deeper into the tournament.
