Tuskegee Football Announces the Hiring of Andre Duncombe Jr. as Secondary Coach

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Tuskegee head football coach Aaron James has announced the hiring of Andre Duncombe Jr. as the program's new secondary coach.

Duncombe brings extensive experience in developing defensive backs and implementing high-level defensive schemes, having previously coached at Maryville University and West Florida.

He spent the past two seasons as the defensive backs coach at Maryville, where he played a key role in shaping one of the top defensive units in the conference.

During his tenure in 2023, Maryville allowed just 16.0 points per game while holding opponents to 194.1 passing yards per game and a 53.4 percent completion rate. His secondary forced 10 interceptions, returning three for touchdowns, while the defense held opponents to just 59.8 rushing yards per game.

Prior to Maryville, Duncombe spent three seasons at West Florida, where he served as a graduate assistant before becoming the cornerbacks coach and special teams assistant.

During his time at UWF, the defense ranked among the best in Division II, allowing just 20.2 points per game in 2022 while recording 12 interceptions, three of which were returned for touchdowns.

His defensive backs played a key role in UWF's ability to force turnovers and remain one of the toughest defenses to score on in the red zone.

As a player, Duncombe was one of the most decorated defenders in UWF history, finishing third all-time in tackles while setting program records in tackles-for-loss (39.5) and ranking second in sacks (17.5) and quarterback hurries (15).

He was a key part of UWF's 2019 National Championship team and remains the program's all-time leader in interceptions by a linebacker (7).

A Miami native, Duncombe played high school football at Booker T. Washington, helping lead his team to a state championship in 2014.

He earned All-Miami-Dade and Keys Second Team honors before playing collegiately, where he earned a degree in Criminal Justice.
