ATLANTA, Ga. – After a dominant weekend sweep over Kentucky State, Tuskegee baseball's Richard Powell IV has been named the SIAC Pitcher of the Week for his stellar performance on the mound.
Powell played a crucial role in securing the Golden Tigers' series-opening victory, setting the tone for the weekend.
Richard Powell IV was a workhorse for the Golden Tigers, delivering a complete-game gem in the series opener, propelling Tuskegee to a 12-4 victory.
Powell tossed all nine innings, allowing just four runs (two earned) on 10 hits while striking out two batters and walking two.
His efficiency on the mound limited Kentucky State's scoring opportunities, as he induced key ground ball outs and kept hitters off balance.
Powell's performance marked the longest outing by a Tuskegee pitcher this season, as he controlled the pace of the game and preserved the bullpen for the rest of the weekend.
His ability to work deep into the game provided the Golden Tigers with much-needed stability on the mound, helping Tuskegee take full command of the series.
With the series sweep over Kentucky State, the Golden Tigers improved to 9-15 overall and 6-9 in SIAC play.
They have now won five straight games at home and will look to carry its momentum into the upcoming stretch of games.
