SAVANNAH, Ga. — Tuskegee Men's Basketball battled through a challenging road environment on Wednesday night but ultimately fell to Savannah State in SIAC action at Tiger Arena.
The Golden Tigers stayed competitive throughout the contest, yet struggled to generate sustained offensive momentum against the Tigers' defensive pressure down the stretch.
Tuskegee worked to establish rhythm early, trading baskets with Savannah State through the opening minutes as both teams emphasized half-court execution. The Golden Tigers relied on patient ball movement and strong defensive positioning to keep the game within reach, but Savannah State was able to capitalize on second-chance opportunities and timely perimeter shooting to create separation as the first half progressed.
Coming out of the break, Tuskegee showed renewed energy on both ends of the floor. The Golden Tigers tightened defensively, forcing contested shots and limiting clean looks in transition while looking to push tempo offensively. Despite several quality possessions and defensive stops, Savannah State responded with timely scoring to maintain control of the game.
Tuskegee continued to compete late, working to close the gap through defensive stops and trips to the free-throw line, but the Tigers' ability to execute in key moments proved decisive. Savannah State closed the game by controlling the glass and limiting Tuskegee's opportunities in the final minutes.
Individually,
Khalil Genwright led Tuskegee with 18 points and three rebounds, while
Derrek Bolton III added 11 points and
Kusamae Draper put in 10 to go along with five rebounds.
Tuskegee will look to regroup quickly as conference play continues, focusing on improving offensive efficiency and finishing possessions on the defensive end.
