TUSKEGEE, Ala. — Tuskegee University Head Men's Basketball Coach
Benjy Taylor announced the addition of Jamaal Stokes to the Golden Tigers' coaching staff, as the program continues to build toward sustained success in SIAC competition.
Stokes joins Tuskegee after impactful coaching stops at Seton Hill University, William Peace University, and as a graduate assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University. He brings a strong reputation for elite defensive strategy, player development, and relationship-based coaching and recruiting.
Most recently at Seton Hill University, Stokes served as the program's defensive coordinator, helping engineer significant improvements in opponent scoring, defensive efficiency, and overall toughness on the defensive end. During his tenure, Seton Hill coached the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, developed multiple All-Conference performers, earned its first conference postseason win, and posted the most wins in program history.
Prior to Seton Hill, Stokes was a key contributor to the growth of William Peace University's men's basketball program, helping guide the team to historic winning seasons, postseason appearances, and the development of several All-Conference players.
Before entering the Division II and Division III coaching ranks, Stokes gained valuable experience at VCU, working within one of the nation's premier mid-major basketball environments. His responsibilities included scouting, player development, operations, and supporting high-level defensive teaching, experience that aligns closely with Tuskegee's pursuit of a championship-level culture.
A former student-athlete, Stokes competed in both basketball and track at Wiley College, giving him firsthand insight into the student-athlete experience and the importance of holistic development on and off the court.
