TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Tuskegee men's basketball secured an impressive 68-42 victory over Allen in a SIAC showdown on December 21 at the Daniel "Chappie" James Center.
Â
The Golden Tigers dominated the game, improving to 5-6 overall and 3-2 in the SIAC. This commanding win helped Tuskegee snap a two-game losing streak and gain momentum in conference play.
Â
The game opened with Allen taking a slight lead, but Tuskegee quickly found their rhythm and established control.
Â
The Golden Tigers ended the first half with a 25-22 advantage. The first half featured a balanced scoring attack from Tuskegee, with key contributions from the back court of
D'Anthony Pennington, and
Kevin Sesberry, who both played pivotal roles in building the lead.
Â
Pennington's aggressive defense and ability to score in transition were critical, as he tallied several steals and fast-break points.
Â
In the second half, Tuskegee turned up the pressure, outscoring Allen 43-20. Their defensive effort was stifling, limiting Allen to just 27 percent shooting from the field and forcing multiple turnovers.
Â
The Golden Tigers also capitalized on second-chance opportunities, increasing their lead with each possession.
Â
Pennington, who finished the game with a team-high 18 points, was particularly effective both offensively and defensively. His ability to score inside and from beyond the arc was a major factor in the game's outcome.
Â
Sesberry also had a standout performance with 17 points, providing the team with a steady presence on both ends of the floor.
Â
Tuskegee's defense remained relentless throughout, as they forced 16 turnovers from Allen and converted those into 13 fast-break points.
Â
In addition to Pennington and Sesberry, Draper made significant contributions with 13 points and six rebounds, including key baskets that helped the Golden Tigers maintain their lead.
Â
Allen struggled with their shooting, finishing the game at just 27 percent from the field and 12.5 percent from three-point range.
Â
Despite some effort from their top scorer, Noel Scott, who registered 10 points, the Yellow Jackets could not match Tuskegee's defensive intensity or offensive execution.
Â
The Golden Tigers finished with 26 points in the paint and dominated the rebounding battle, securing 40 boards to Allen's 28.
Â
The team's depth was also on display, as they received valuable contributions from the bench, including
Tyshawn Boyce and
Noah Goines. With this win, Tuskegee is now in a solid position as they continue their push in the SIAC.
Â
Up Next
The Golden Tigers will look to build on this momentum as they prepare for their next conference battle. Tuskegee will return to the court on January 4, starting a four-game road trip in the new year.
