COLUMBUS, Ga. – In a display of dominance, the Tuskegee Golden Tigers football team defeated Morehouse 42-0 on Saturday at A.J. McClung Stadium in the historic Tuskegee Morehouse Classic, finding the endzone five times in the win.
Tuskegee controlled the game from start to finish, capitalizing on both offense and defense to secure their second win of the season, improving their record to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in SIAC play.
Morehouse struggled to move the ball throughout the game, falling to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
The Golden Tigers struck first with an early field goal by
Lorcan Ryans, who connected from 32 yards out with 11:08 left in the first quarter. Ryans would later add another 18-yard field goal in the second quarter to give Tuskegee a 6-0 lead.
Tuskegee extended the lead before halftime when
Raequan Beal found
Reggie Brigman for a four-yard touchdown pass, capping a 10-play, 80-yard drive to put the Golden Tigers up 13-0 at the break.
Tuskegee wasted no time extending their lead in the third quarter. On just the second play after halftime, Beal connected with
Jonathan Montrevil on a 33-yard touchdown pass, making it 19-0 after the missed extra point.
The Golden Tigers kept up the pressure, scoring again at the end of the third quarter when
Johnny Morris punched in a 2-yard touchdown run. A successful two-point conversion on a pass from Beal to Brigman pushed the score to 27-0.
In the fourth quarter, Tuskegee continued their dominance with another Beal touchdown pass, this time to
Quavon Beckford for eight yards, and a two-point conversion pass to Brigman, increasing the lead to 35-0.
Tuskegee closed out the game with a three-yard touchdown pass from
Malik Davis to
Gabriel Garmon with just under two minutes remaining to seal the 42-0 victory.
Tuskegee dominated on the ground, amassing 253 rushing yards on 39 carries, led by Morris, who ran for 107 yards on 13 attempts, averaging 8.2 yards per carry.
Renoldo Spivey Jr. added 61 yards on seven carries.
Beal was efficient, completing 7-of-12 passes for 67 yards and three touchdowns. Davis also contributed with a perfect 5-for-5 passing performance, including a touchdown. Tuskegee's offense racked up 401 total yards of offense compared to Morehouse's 144 total yards.
Tuskegee's defense stifled Morehouse, holding them to just 53 rushing yards and forcing three turnovers, including an interception by
Rossie Grimes.
Kaquan Kimber led the way with a team-high eight tackles, including seven solo, two for loss, and a sack, while
Jarell Culbreth added six tackles.

The Golden Tigers will now set their sights on next week's game, as they travel to Jackson, Tennessee to face Lane College on Saturday, October 12. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. CT.
