Tuskegee (7-11, 6-6 SIAC) won its fourth straight conference game this past Monday, defeating Lane on the road in a defensive battle by a final score of 48-46. With the victory, the Golden Tigers moved into third place in the SIAC West standings, just a few games behind their next two opponents.

A big reason for that was Martez Jones who recorded his eighth double-double of the season, scoring a game-high 13 points and 15 rebounds. He was also strong on the defensive end, tallying a season-high three steals along with one block.

Meanwhile, Tuskegee has a trio of scorers in the top 20 in the league, with Jones averaging 14.0 points, followed by Kusamae Draper at 13.8, and D'Anothony Pennington at 13.3 points per game.

While Tuskegee ranks in the top ten in the country in free throws per game (27.5/4th) and field goal percentage defense (39.6/9th) the shooting and rebounding have been key to their recent success.

The Golden Tigers will try to remain perfect on their current road stretch on Saturday. They are 5-1 over the last six games and currently 2-6 on the road this season.

Miles (12-4, 7-3 SIAC) enters Saturday having lost its first game of 2024 and ending a six-game win streak. This past Monday, the Golden Bears fell on the road to Kentucky State (85-76). They are currently undefeated at home with a 10-0 mark.

Offensively, the Golden Bears are strong from long range, ranking second in the SIAC in three-point percentage (36.9) and fourth in threes made (8.2 per game). They also shoot well from the free throw line, ranking fourth in the league free throw percentage (73.6).

Defensively, Miles is the No. 2 team in the conference in scoring and scoring margin. The Golden Bears score 69.7 points and allow just 62.5 points per game, maintaining a +7.2-scoring margin.

Miles has five scorers who average at least eight points per game, including three in double figures. Alvin Miles leads the way so far with a team-best 14.1 points per game, followed by Mykayle Carter at 12.9 and Corey Trotter at 12.4 points per contest. Other key scorers include Truitt Spencer and Elijah Horton who are averaging 9.8 and 8.7 points per game, respectively.
