Women’s Basketball Finishes the Regular Season Undefeated in SIAC Play with win over Kentucky State

TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ Head Coach Trelanne Powell and her program have finished the regular season unbeaten after a 68-57 win over Kentucky State on Monday evening inside of the Daniel "Chappie" James Arena for the final regular season game of the year.
 
Ashiala Jackson (Merrillville, Ind.) led Tuskegee with a game-high 19 points, while also grabbing ten rebounds and four steals in 36 minutes, followed by JuToreyia Willis (Chattanooga, Tenn.) who finished with. 15 points, a game-high 13 rebounds and six assists in the win.
 
Meanwhile, Arielle McElroy (Bolingbrook, Ill.) also finished in double figures at 16 points, along with four rebounds and an assist to her totals off the bench.
 
Tuskegee got off to a slow start for the game, trailing 7-0 within the first two minutes of play before Nadia Thorman-Mckey (Evanston, Ill.) got them on the board at the 8:12 mark. The deficit later grew as many as 14 points at 18-4 at the 4:30-mark, before a 10-0 run to close the quarter with. Tuskegee trailing just 18-14.
 
The Golden Tigers took their first lead of the game with just over seven minutes to play in the second after a second chance score form Jackson to go up 21-20 and held on to the lead until a Kentucky State three at the two-minute mark to put the Thorobreds up. 31-30 before seeing the game tied at 33-33 at halftime.
 
Tuskegee gained some separation in the third, adding 17 points in the period, while holding Kentucky State to 11 to gain control of the contest, and held on with another good quarter in the fourth for the 68-57 win on senior night.
 
The Golden Tigers outscored their opponent in both bench points (22-8) and points off turnovers (22-17), while shooting 37.9 (25-for-66) from the floor, 55.6 (5-for-9) from long range and 72.2 (13-for-18) percent from the free throw line.
