ATLANTA, Ga. – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men's and women's basketball weekly honors, with guard
Sumaiyah Abdur-Rahim (Grand Prairie, Texas) being named Newcomer of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Abdur-Rahim started the past week off with a big-time performance in a 76-51 win against LeMoyne-Owen (Feb. 6), where she finished with 22 points, shooting 8-for-14 overall from the field, along with five rebounds, five steals, and a block in 31 minutes.
She followed that in the second game on Saturday, February 11 with five points, yet still contributed well defensively, with a pair of rebounds, two steals and a block in 20 minutes of play.
This is the second time this season that the guard has been named the Newcomer of the Week, with the previous being after a two-game stint in January.
The Golden Tigers will meet Lane this evening in a makeup game that was postponed earlier in the year. Tip-off for the matchup is set for 5:30 p.m. inside of the Daniel "Chappie" James Center.
