Men's Basketball Travels For Non-Conference Matchup Against Georgia Southwestern

TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ After taking a short break for the holidays, Tuskegee men's basketball team is set to return to the court on Saturday afternoon, traveling to face Georgia Southwestern inside the Storm Dome.

Tip-off for Saturday's game is set for 4 p.m. ET and the contest can be seen on the Peach Belt Sports Network and heard live on the Golden Tiger Sports Network 15 minutes prior to tip.

Tuskegee and Georgia Southwestern have split their last two meetings __ a home-and-home series during the 2015-16 season __ with both teams winning in their home gym.

Just before the holiday break, Tuskegee lost a tight contest to Edward Waters 66-65 on the road, despite 19 points from sophomore forward Kusamae Draper. Meanwhile, junior Martez Jones nearly notched a double-double, finishing with nine points and 11 rebounds in that game.

Tuskegee (2-9, 1-5 SIAC) has now lost two games in a row, both on the road. The Golden Tigers previously defeated Clark Atlanta at home (Dec. 4), before falling to Savannah State (Dec. 16) and Edward Waters (Dec. 18).

TU has four players averaging double figures in scoring this season. Draper leads the way, scoring 14.1 points per game. Guards D'Anthony Pennington and Kevin Sesberry score 13.4 and 12.5 points per outing respectively, while Jones averages 12.0 points along with 10.4 rebounds per contest.

Georgia Southwestern is 7-2 this season lost its last game, ending a five-game win streak. The Redbirds dropped a 84-74 contest on the road against Florida Tech, just their second loss on the season, with both being away from home.

Jalen Johnson leads Georgia Southwestern in scoring at 16.7 points per game. Jakwon Moore and Jordan Johnson are the other GSW players averaging in double figures at 13.6 and 10.2 points per contest.
