SAVANNAH, Ga. __ The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference unveiled its men's basketball preseason All-SIAC teams Wednesday, and Tuskegee junior
D'Anthony Pennington earned second-team acclaim, voted on by SIAC head coaches and sports information personnel.
Pennington and Martez Jones both traveled today, along with fifth-year head coach Benjy Taylor to SIAC Media Day which was held at the Enmarket Arena on Wednesday.
The Golden Tigers' leading returning scorer (8.8 ppg), assist man (2.3 ppg), and steals (1.2 spg), Pennington put together a strong campaign last season, his first with Tuskegee, starting 16 games for the program.
His 254 total points last season ranked fourth on the roster, trailing only former All-SIAC performers
Gregg Boyd (339) and
Devin Booker (310), along with
Steve Dulley (268). The guard also scored in double figures on 14 occasions, collected four or more rebounds in a game nine times, and dished out three or more assists 11 times on the year.
Pennington and the Golden Tigers open the 2023-24 season in Shorter, Georgia, as part of the Gulf South/SIAC Crossover, where they will face Union and Shorter on November 10 and 11 respectively.
