WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Golden Tigers (9-4, 4-2 SIAC) defeated Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foe Central State, 67-50, on Monday evening inside the Beacom-Lewis Gymnasium to close out a four-game road win streak to start the year.

Central State scored the first basket of the game, followed not long after from the first points from
Devin Booker (Chicago, Ill.). The Marauders went on to gain an 8-2 lead with 16 minutes to play, and 8-4 seconds later at the first media timeout.

With the score at 12-6 at the 14:48 mark, neither team would score for nearly three minutes before a pull up jumper from
Greg Boyd (Seat Pleasant, Md.) sparked the Golden Tigers to tie the game and take a 14-12 lead with under ten minutes to play in the half.

Tuskegee continued to gain momentum going forward, fighting their way to a 26-20 lead at the 4:39 mark. They took first double-digit lead at 32-22 with 1:32 remaining, before ending the half leading 34-25.

The Golden Tigers had a strong start to the second half, going up 11 before the first media timeout after a score from
Martez Jones (Tuskegee, Ala.), their first double figure lead of the game. Jones scored later from three to put Tuskegee up 46-30 with just over 15 minutes to play.

After Tuskegee pushed their lead to 18 points with 14:40 to play, Central State made a final push, reducing the lead to ten points at 50-40 with 9:25 remaining. However, the Golden Tigers responded to take a game-high 20-point lead with two minutes to go and finished the contest with the 67-50 win.

Boyd scored a team-high 12 points for the Golden Tigers along with a pair of rebounds and an assist, followed by
Reco Hallmon (Atlanta, Ga.) who added 11 points and five rebounds in the win. Meanwhile, the team shot 36.6 (26-for-71) percent from the field, 17.6 (3-for-17) percent from long range, and 75 (12-for-16) percent from the free throw line on the game.
