TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Golden Tigers (15-6, 10-4 SIAC) came away with their second straight home win as they defeated Spring Hill, 76-69, in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening inside of the Daniel "Chappie" James Center.
 
Spring Hill came out strong, scoring the first six points of the game and later going up 8-2 before the first media timeout. Tuskegee responded to cut the lead to three at 12-9 with just over 13 minutes to go in the half, however fell victim to a short run to go down 21-14 at the 10:17 mark.
 
From there, the Golden Tigers scored on two of their next three possessions on scores from forwards 
Devareaux Davis (Minneapolis, Minn.) and 
Martez Jones (Tuskegee, Ala.). After a pair of Badger free throws, 
Gregg Boyd (Seat Pleasant, Md.) made a three-pointer followed by a score inside from 
Kusamae Draper (Conyers, Ga.) to reduce the deficit to just a single point at 24-23 with four minutes remaining in the half.
 
Tuskegee later tied the game at 27-27 after another dunk from Jones at the 2:39 mark but lost the lead quickly after with another Badger long range shot. 
Devin Booker (Chicago, Ill.) responded with a three of his own to pull back within a point that was matched on the next possession, however Boyd and Davis added scores on the next two possessions to help Tuskegee take a 35-34 lead into halftime.
 
Spring Hill regained the lead after a pair of free throws in the second half before 
Mason Green (Ellenwood, Ga.) scored to start a crucial run for the Golden Tigers. They took a 45-36 lead with just under 16 minutes to play and later went up double-digits for the first time at 53-43 after a second chance score inside from 
Chip Culpepper (Hoover, Ala.).
 
Following the largest lead on either side, the Badgers fought back into the game, using a 12-0 run over the next stretch of play to retake the lead at 55-53. Booker hit another three on the next trip down, and the teams went back-and-forth for the remainder of play until Tuskegee earned the lead for the final time with a dunk from Draper with two minutes to play.
 
After the dunk, Booker sank six straight free throws, followed by two from 
Reco Hallmon (Atlanta, Ga.) and a dunk from Green helped secure the 74-69 win.
 
Booker led the way for Tuskegee offensively, finishing with 16 points, three rebounds and two steals, while Boyd added 14 points, two assists and a pair of steals in the win.

The Golden Tigers will return to play this weekend as they travel to face Miles on Saturday, January 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. inside the Knox-Windham Gym.
