ATLANTA, Ga. – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men's and women's basketball weekly honors, with guard
Sumaiyah Abdur-Rahim (Grand Prairie, Texas) being named Newcomer of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Abdur-Rahim scored 58 points over the week, good for 19.3 per contest, along with shooting 56.8 (21-for-37) percent from the field over the trio of games, help the Golden Tigers go 3-0 on the week.
The transfer guard has been on a tear lately, scoring in double figures in four of the last five games, including a pair of 20-point games on the week against Allen (Jan. 2) and Kentucky State (Jan. 7). The guard also added averages of 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.3 steals per game over the span.
