Pair of Golden Tigers earn SIAC Honors after win over West Alabama

Zelly Aldridge was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Arnes Huskic was named Special Teams Player of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. | The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its weekly football honors, with Tuskegee student-athletes earning two of three awards on Monday.

Defensive back Zelly Aldridge (Gallion, Ala.) was named Defensive Player of the Week, while kicker Arnes Huskic (Jacksonville, Fla.) was named Special Teams Player of the Week after the Golden Tigers' 700th all-time program win over West Alabama.

Aldridge has provided much needed depth to Tuskegee's defensive backfield after transferring from North Alabama. The safety finished last week with five tackles, including four solos, a pass break up, and also sealed the upset win for the Golden Tigers with an interception on the final play of the game.

Meanwhile, Huskic went 2-for-3 on field goals for the Golden Tigers win on Saturday against West Alabama, including a 29-yard kick to cap off a drive with just over five minutes left to take the lead and eventually win the game over the Tigers. He also made a 42-yard field goal for the first score of the game in the first quarter.

The Golden Tigers will look to carry their momentum into their first home opener this weekend against Allen in the Cramton Bowl. Kickoff for the contest, also serving as the Hall of Fame Game, is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday.
