Tuskegee falls to Hampton on the road

HAMPTON, Va. – In a battle between historic programs, Tuskegee (0-2) dropped the non-conference matchup to Hampton, 42-10, Saturday night inside Armstrong Stadium.

After receiving the opening kickoff, Tuskegee threw the first of a trio of interceptions on their fifth play from scrimmage, allowing Hampton to start their first drive on the Golden Tiger side of the field.

Following a pair of first down passes from the Pirates, Malik Moore (Tallahassee, Fla.) returned the favor with an interception of his own, returning the ball to the Tuskegee 30-yard line with the score still tied 0-0.

After another Golden Tiger turnover on the next possession, Hampton capitalized off the miscue, putting together a three-play drive for just two yards after returning the interception near the goal line. The Pirates then forced a three-and-out, and drove the ball to the endzone once more, this time a 30-yard drive over just two plays to take a 14-0 lead before later scoring again off a Tuskegee turnover to go up three scores in the second quarter.

Tuskegee responded with a scoring drive of their own, bringing in Bryson Williams (Lithonia, Ga.) off the bench, who led a 11-play, 75-yard drive capped off by a 25-yard pass to Keynon Webb (Lithonia, Ga.) to make the score 21-7, where the score remained until the half.

Hampton started the second half driving right down the field, scoring a touchdown on a two-yard run to stretch their lead to 28-7. Meanwhile, the Golden Tigers also sustained a long drive, going 57 yards on 12 plays and made a field goal. However, the Pirate defense held them scoreless for the remainder of the game to help Hampton secure the win.
