TUSKEGEE, Ala. I Tuskegee University Director of Athletics Reginald Ruffin has announced phase one of comprehensive athletics facilities upgrades throughout the department.
 
The first round of changes includes upgrades to Cleve L. Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium, the Daniel "Chappie" James Center, Pepsico Tennis Courts, along with the baseball and softball facilities.

New buses and modes of transportation for student-athletes is also scheduled to be included in phase one, including 50+ seat units to accommodate larger teams (football and track and field), mid-size models, as well as upgrades to the sports medicine facility.

"Our student-athletes and their success are our main priority," said Ruffin. "The majority of athletic development happens in their respective team's athletic venue, so it is essential that we continue to make our athletic facilities the best they can be. We will continue to be and represent the standard of Tuskegee Unversity and we thank our family, friends, and alumni for helping us move forward with our goals."

Cleve L. Abbot Memorial Alumni Stadium 

• Install new field turf, new signage installed
• New football facility (includes locker rooms, coaching offices, sports medicine, player lounge, meeting rooms, reception area)

 
 Daniel "Chappie" James Center

• Renovate locker rooms used by volleyball and men's and women's basketball
• Upgrade on-court score tables

 
Pepsico Tennis Courts

• Replace wind screens (Completed)
• New court surface install

 
TU Softball Field

• Add seating, concessions, bathrooms, and build press boxes
• Upgrade scoreboard (Completed)

 
Washington Field

• Add seating, concessions, bathrooms, and build press boxes
