ROCK HILL, S.C. I Tuskegee men's basketball and head coach
Benjy Taylor are set to begin tournament play as they take on Savannah State in the quarterfinal round of the TIAA SIAC Tournament Championship on Thursday at 7 pm on ESPN+.
Tuskegee (15-12, 11-7 SIAC) earned the second seed in the Western Division, while Savannah State finished third in the East Division and earned a 60-50 win over Lane to advance to the quarterfinal round.
The Golden Tigers enter the contest having won two of their last three games to close out the season with a 66-61 win over Lane (Feb. 17) and a 74-68 win over Spring Hill (Feb. 22). Tuskegee and Savannah State met just one time this season, with the Golden Tigers dropping a 62-59 contest at home.
Tuskegee is led by All-SIAC First Team guard
Devin Booker (Chicago, Ill.) who averaged 16.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. Meanwhile,
Steve Dulley (Kansas City, Mo.) posted regular season numbers of 10.9 and 4.2 rebounds, followed by
Deshawn Millington (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who put up 10.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest this season.
Savannah State has three players who average double figure points, led by Avery Joyner at 15.0 points along with. 3.6. rebounds and. 2.6 assists, followed by Marcus Scott who averages 12.3 points, and 2.2 rebounds per game. Trey DeLoach is the final scorer above the ten-point mark at 10.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest.
