Tuskegee splits a pair of home games against Spring Hill

TUSKEGEE, Ala. I Tuskegee took the first matchup against Spring Hill 2-0 before falling 4-3 in the tenth in the second game of the Saturday doubleheader at the TU Softball Field.

Tuskegee 2, Spring Hill 0
The first game of the series was a low scoring battle; however, Tuskegee got a pair of runners in scoring position in the second after a leadoff walk and a single from Kendra Gibbons (Lineville, Ala.) who both advanced on a groundout.

On the next at-bat, junior? Myracle Hawkins (Morrow, Ga.) singled through the left side to bring home Jada Chadwick (Columbus, Ga.) for the first run of the game. The Golden Tigers added their second run in the next inning, as Kayla Wright (Millbrook, Ala.) crossed the plate on an error to go up 2-0 for the final score as neither team would produce any more offense.

Ayriana Stoneback (Notasulga, Ala.) picked up the win in the circle with the complete game shutout, allowing just four hits and striking out three batters on the day. Gibbons led Tuskegee at the plate with a pair of hits, while Wright recorded a hit and scored a run.

Spring Hill 4 Tuskegee 3 (10 Inn.)
The second game was also a tight contest, with the Golden Tigers scoring in the first inning with a home run from Nylah Strange-Lindley (Sulphur Springs, Texas) and followed with a run from a Badger error in the third to take a 2-0 lead.

After three scoreless innings on both sides, Spring Hill found some offense in the seventh, as the leadoff batter reached on an error and scored on the next at-bat after a triple to left center. The Badgers tied the game later in the inning with an RBI single to left field and retired the side in the bottom of the inning to force extra softball.

Spring Hill gained momentum in the top of the tenth, breaking the tie with an RBI single to right center and another to left field to go up 4-2. Meanwhile, Tuskegee got within a run after a groundout helped a runner cross but fell short in the comeback.

Kaeley Roldan (Wahiawa, Hi.) pitched in the circle for the Golden Tigers and picked up the loss, allowing seven hits and four runs. Hawkins led at the plate with two hits, while three different batters scored runs.
