TUSKEGEE, Ala. I Tuskegee and Alabama State have agreed to resume their rivalry in 2023, renewing one of the oldest college football rivalries for three years which would include the 100th Turkey Day Classic on Thanksgiving Day 2024.
"It is thrilling to have this opportunity to play one of the oldest rivalry games in the state of Alabama," Tuskegee Athletic Director and head football coach Reginal Ruffin stated. "I would like to thank Dr. Ross and Dr. Cable for providing Tuskegee University this wonderful opportunity for our student athletes, coaches, alumni, and fans. The Turkey Day Classic football rivalry between our great institutions is among the greatest in all collegiate athletics. I am very excited to see this rivalry and competition between Alabama State and Tuskegee will continue. We are so honored to be a part of this legacy of the Turkey Day Classic."
The two programs met in the Turkey Day Classic in 2021 for the first time since 2012, and have met in the Classic in all but 12 occasions all-time. They have battled on the football field 102 total times in series history, with Tuskegee holding a 62-38-3 edge in the series.
The Golden Tigers took the first ever meeting between the two programs with a 37-0 victory in 1901, however Alabama State has won the last three contests, including a 43-9 win on November 25, 2021.
