Women’s Basketball dominates Clark Atlanta on the road

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Golden Tigers have defeated Clark Atlanta for the second time in four games on Monday evening, this time an 83-47 outing inside the L.S. Epps Gymnasium in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
 
Tuskegee stormed out to an early lead with a 13-0 run to open the game, while holding Clark Atlanta scoreless until the just over three minutes to play in the quarter and just four points heading into the second.
 
With an 18-4 lead in the second, another spurt from the Golden Tigers wrapped up by a layup from JuToreyia Willis (Chattanooga, Tenn.) gave them a 20-point lead for the first time at 30-9 with 3:52 to play in the half. Tuskegee continued to control the momentum for the half and headed into the breakup 40-14.
 
After failing to convert on their first possession of the second half, Willis started the scoring in the third with a steal and layup on the other end, one of five steals for Willis in the game. Minutes later, Mikayla Malik (Houston, Texas) made a three on a fast break to put the Golden Tigers up 46-16 at the 8:31-mark, before Tuskegee finished out the quarter leading 64-32 despite a small run from the Panthers. Clark Atlanta continued to cut into the lead heading into the fourth, reducing the deficit to under 30 a pair of times during the quarter, before the 83-47 win.
 
The Golden Tigers controlled the major comparable metrics, scoring 44 points in the paint, 38 bench points, 30 fast break points and 30 points off turnovers in the win.
 
Meanwhile, Ashiala Jackson (Merrillville, Ind.) led Tuskegee with a game-high 19 points along with nine rebounds, two steals, and a block in 29 minutes, followed by Willis who nearly finished with a triple-double at 18 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and five steals.
 
Nadia Thorman-Mckey (Evanstan, Ill.) also recorded a double-double, with 12 points and ten rebounds to go with three steals of her own, while Brittney Bolin (Trophy Club, Texas) dished out a career-high 10 assists while scoring six points and grabbing five rebounds.
