ATLANTA, Ga. – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men's and women's basketball weekly honors, with Tuskegee sweeping the women's weekly awards, as
JuToreyia Willis (Chattanooga, Tenn.) being named
Player of the Week, while
Nadia Thorman-Mckey (Evanston, Ill.) being named Newcomer of the Week.
Willis had an outstanding week to wrap up the calendar year, nearly finishing with a triple-double twice and averaging 14.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 6.0 steals over three games. Against Division I opponent Florida A&M, the guard scored 15 points along with grabbing ten rebounds, a career-high nine steals, and six assists in an overtime effort against the Rattlers, totaling 43 minutes. Against Savannah State, Willis finished with 12 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and four steals in a convincing win, followed by 16 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists in a blowout win over Edward Waters on Saturday. The guard is posting current numbers of 13.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, a team-high 5.0 assists and 3.4 steals per game so far on the season.
Meanwhile, Thorman-Mckey scored in double figures in two of three games last week, scoring a team-high 18 points along with five rebounds and two assists against Florida A&M in an overtime loss, followed by 14 points and five rebounds against Savannah State at home. The forward is averaging 12.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest with one double-double on the year.
