Golden Tigers keep winning streak alive with win in Morehouse-Tuskegee Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. In yet another chapter in the long-running Morehouse-Tuskegee Classic, the Golden Tigers pulled out a 31-14 win at Legion Field over the Maroon Tigers.

Tuskegee (4-2, 3-0 SIAC) struck first on the scoreboard with a seven-play, 60-yard drive to open the game, capped off by a pass from Bryson Williams (Lithonia, Ga.) to Deondre Harvey (Douglasville, Ga.) for the 7-0 lead. Both teams had offensive drives stall to end the quarter, however Morehouse got on the board with just over 13 minutes in the half with a touchdown of their own but missed the extra point to make the score 7-6.

The next Golden Tigers drive started with a 27-yard pass from Williams to Antonio Meeks (Lilburn, Ga.), yet the drive tailed off at the Morehouse 24-yard line with a missed field goal. Morehouse drove right down the field on their next possession with a nine-play drive for 76 yards and added a touchdown and two-point conversion to gain the 14-7 advantage with six minutes remaining in the half.

The offensive unit responded on their next drive, with Williams leading the way with a 24-yard pass to Corey Petty (Warner Robins, Ga.) to get in goal line position and followed it with a 10-yard rush for a score to tie the ball game at 14-14, a score that would remain at the break.

The second half was all Tuskegee as they scored 17 unanswered points to close out the game. Williams capped off a four-play drive with another rushing touchdown in the third quarter for the first score, while Arnes Huskic (Jacksonville, Fla.) drilled a 41-yard field goal to put Tuskegee up 24-14.

With just over seven minutes left to play, the Golden Tigers sustained an eight-play drive that covered 49 yards and five minutes of play to all but seal the game, with Williams rushing for his third touchdown of the night to conclude the drive and give Tuskegee the 31-14 edge.
