Huskic, Taylor win SIAC Weekly Honors after win over Central State

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its weekly football honors, with Tuskegee student-athletes picking up a pair awards on Monday afternoon.

Running back Taurean Taylor (Scottdale, Ga.) was named Offensive Player of the Week, while kicker Arnes Huskic (Jacksonville, Fla.) was named Special Teams Player of the Week after the Golden Tigers' 49-34 win over Central State on Saturday.

Taylor had another strong day on the ground for the Golden Tigers, rushing for a new career-high 232 yards against Central State, including a 93-yard score in the win. The senior also caught a pass for 21 yards along with four total scores on the ground as he helped Tuskegee win their fifth straight game.

This is the second accolade of the day for Taylor, as he was also named the HBCU BOXTOROW National Player of the week earlier this morning after helping Tuskegee rush for a program record 434 yards in the win.

Meanwhile, Huskic, a now three-time SIAC Special Teams Player of the Week, went 7-for-7 on point after attempts in the Golden Tigers' win on Saturday over the Marauders. The senior also had eight kickoffs for a total of 506 yards, good for 63.3 yards per kick to go along with three touchbacks on the day.

The Golden Tigers will look to continue their momentum and keep the streak alive this weekend as they travel to Memphis, Tennessee to battle Lane in the Bluff City Classic. Kickoff for the contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday.
