Fairfield, Ala. - India Blakely's 14 point performance was not enough to get the victory as Tuskegee (14-12, 10-7 SIAC) fell to Miles College (18-7, 13-4 SIAC) 73-58.
Tuskegee found themselves down early as Miles College went on an 11-0 run. The Golden Tigers brought their deficit down to eight by the end of the first quarter 16-8.
Lena Yoonis brought the Golden Tigers within four from a layup 16-12 with 6:45 remaining. Yoonis finished the evening with 10 points and eight rebounds, shooting 66.6 (4-for-6) percent from the floor.
Shelle Daniels fell one rebound short of a double-double, she finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Miles College's Victoria Sutton led all scorers in the contest with 26 points and shot 46.1 (6-for-13) percent from the floor.
The Golden Tigers completed the night shooting 31.6 (18-57) percent from the field. Tuskegee obtained 34 points in the paint but it was not enough as the Golden Tigers could not take the lead in the contest.
Tuskegee out-rebounded Miles College 53-46.
With this loss, Miles College wins the SIAC West division for the first time in school history. Tuskegee holds a 9-8 record over Miles College.
Tuskegee will travel to Mobile, AL Tuesday evening to square off against Spring Hill College in the final regular season game of the 2019-2020 season. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m CST.
