As Willie Slater starts his 14th season as head coach, the seven-time SIAC Champion is 9-4 in season openers. Last year's six-point loss at Alabama State was his first in four seasons

Alabama State/Tuskegee Series

Tuskegee owns a record of 62-34-4 all-time in its series with the Alabama State. The series began in 1901 and started as the Turkey Day Classic in 1924, taking place each year with the exception of 12 years. During that time, TU won seven consecutive times in the series on three different occasions – the last streak beginning in 1967 and ending in 1974. Since 2006, the Golden Tigers are 5-3 against ASU.  The two teams met each year on Thanksgiving Day from 1993 until their final meeting in 2012. Skegee won 12 of the 20 meetings during that stretch

First ever Turkey Day Classic

96 years ago, Tuskegee defeated Alabama State 28-7. The 1924 game was considered the first ever black college football classic

10 years ago

In 2009, Tuskegee shutout Alabama State 21-0. It would mark the first time a team in the series was held scorless since 1988. TU held ASU to only 51 yards of total offense that Thanksgiving day

Stingy 2018 rush defense

2019 Black College Hall of Fame Watchlist

The Black College Football Hall of Fame (BCFHOF) announced the 2019 Watch List for the Black College Football Player of the Year Award and TU linebacker Davoris Thomas is among one of 48 players listed. The Award is presented annually to the most outstanding football player from a Historically Black College & University.

What turned out to be a 5-5 season in 2018, could have easliy been a 9-1 mark. In four of Skegee's five losses, (Alabama State, Morehouse, Central State and Miles College) they held fourth quarter leads

Last season in the second and third quarters combined, Tuskegee outscored its opponents 143-58. In the first and fourth quarters, they were actually outscored 54-23
