Tuskegee women finish fourth, men fifth at Falcon Classic

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Tuskegee University women's track and field team finished fourth in team standings March 23 at the Falcon Classic. The Golden Tigers recorded 81.5 points with a field of 14 teams scoring points in the event.

Hillary Givens paced TU finishing in third place out of 22 runners in the 100 meter dash. Zaria Lee and Tamia Richardson also finished in the Top 10.  Ta'Kashi Jenkins ninth place was the team's top finisher in the 200 meter dash. She clocked in at 26.70.

Kailyn Thrash clocked in the with a time of 58.27 in the 400 meter dash, which led to a second place finish out of 23 runners competing. Gariandra Dupree also finished inside the top 10 with a seventh place finish and a time of 1:01.00.

In the 100 meter hurdles, TU was led by Jasmine Daly and Jazymon Balous, who came in third and fourth place respectively.

In the field events, Destiny Mclendon came in second place in the women's triple jump with a distance of  10.48 while Alexandria Brown placed in the Shot Put with a throw of 11.71m.
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Tuskegee University men's track and field team finished fifth in team standings March 23 at the Falcon Classic. The Golden Tigers recorded 62 points with a field of 16 teams scoring points in the event.

Zyion Hughes paced the Golden Tigers in the 400 meter dash. He would cross the finish line fourth with a time of 50.82.6. Finishing inside the top 10 of the 100 meter dash was Marquez Burdette with a time of 11:22.03.

Victor Cross raced to a second place finish for the Golden Tigers in 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.88 while also placing fourth in the 400 meter hurdles and a time of 58.17

TU made its presence felt in the field events as Jeremy Jones took first place in the men's shot put. His distance of 13.35 paced TU while Jamichael Manley came in second place in the triple jump with a distance of 13.91m

Both units will compete at the Emory Classic next week in Atlanta, Ga.
