The Tuskegee University men's basketball team ended its 2018-19 season Wednesday afternoon in Fairfield at the SIAC Basketball Tournament, falling to Miles College 54-39 inside Bill Harris Arena. The Golden Tigers were eliminated after getting out of the first round Monday afternoon.
Myles Thomas was the only TU player to score in double figures finishing with 11 points. The next highest scorer was
Jordan Gaines, who came off the bench to chip in seven points.
Joshua Culver finished with double digit rebounds for the first time this season, pulling down 10.
Miles had three guys to score in double figures starting with Nathan Sheffield's game-high 16 points. Devonte Fuller and LeByron Harris added 11 points and 10 points respectively.
The game got off to a slow start as both teams played to a 4-4 tie inside of the 15-minute mark of the first half. TU would only score eight more points the remainder of the half, playing to a 21-14 score at the break in favor of the Golden Bears.
After shooting 20 percent in the first half, things did not improve much after the break, when the Golden Tigers only connected on 8-of-29 second half attempts for a total of 24 percent shooting for the game and 15.8 percent from three point range.
Miles produced more points in the paint (28-14) and second chance points 14-7.
The 39 points matched a season low back from Jan. 26, which was also against the Golden Bears. TU finishes the season 13-15 overall with a mark of 8-11 in the conference.
